BODY CONDITIONING

The best sense of rhythm,  careful technical training, and the most astute dance intuition aren't enough to make a dancer truly excel; you also need focused strength, balance, and flexibility to execute the movements with power and grace. Conditioning for Dance improves your technique and performance in all dance forms by strengthening the body's core (abdominal and back muscles) while developing coordination, balance, and alignment and optimizing flexibility. The result is more lift without tension, deeper plies, higher jumps with less effort, tighter turns, and improved extension and turnout.  "Conditioning for Dance, Eric Franklin"

Pilates

Pilates gives dancers a distinct competitive edge by developing the strength, control, and body awareness essential for exceptional performance. Through both mat and specialized equipment such as the Reformer, Cadillac, and Barrel, dancers can build deep core strength, improve alignment, enhance flexibility, and develop balanced muscle recruitment with precision. The adjustable resistance and support provided by Pilates equipment allow exercises to be tailored to each dancer's individual needs, helping to correct movement patterns, increase stability, refine technique, and safely progress strength and mobility. This targeted training improves balance, coordination, turnout, extension, jumps, and overall movement efficiency while reducing the risk of injury. Regular equipment-based Pilates also enhances endurance, breathing efficiency, and recovery, enabling dancers to train more effectively and perform with greater confidence, artistry, and consistency. By refining movement quality and building physical resilience, Pilates equips dancers with the technical and physical advantage needed to excel in both training and on stage.
